Former English FA chairman David Bernstein has said that manager Roy Hodgson should not be sacked from the job if England do not manage to make it into the 2014 World Cup. The possibility of England failing to qualify for this major tournament still exists because they are only in the second place in the group.

Moldova lost their group match against Ukraine 2-1 to remain just one place above the bottom of group. Moldova faced a tough competition to even think about qualifying for the World Cup through the play-offs.

This is due to the fact that Moldova were in the same group as the likes of England and Montenegro. The winner from a group automatically qualifies for the World Cup, while the second placed team has to go through a play-off game against a team from Europe. The England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the Chelsea defender John Terry is likely to be selected for the match against Moldova.

England will be starting the World Cup qualifying campaign against Moldova followed by the match against Ukraine a few days later. The Chelsea defender John Terry was recently found not guilty of racially abusing their QPR defender Anton Ferdinand by the court trial.
